“Is Aging Reversible? Can We Reset the Clock?”- Panel Discussion

NEW YORK, February 10, 2014: Ana Lita attended the recent panel discussion entitled, “Is Aging Reversible? Can We Reset the Clock?” organized by the German Center for Research and Innovation, located at the German House, 871 United Nations Plaza. The event was also co-sponsored by Leopoldina, the German National Academy of Sciences. As life expectancy increases, age-related diseases and cognitive disorders are becoming more prevalent. Are age-related decreases in cognitive and behavioral functions reversible? Can slowing the rate of aging, as has been demonstrated in animal models, decrease the appearance of age-associated diseases? What can we learn about the mechanisms of aging from individuals with rare premature aging disorders? Our expert panelists discussed these pertinent issues at the German Center for Research and Innovation.

Featured Speakers:

Dr. Ursula Staudinger Director, Columbia Aging Center; Robert N. Butler Professor of Sociomedical Sciences and Professor of Psychology, Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University; Vice President, Leopoldina, German National Academy of Sciences

Dr. Rodney L. Levine Chief, Laboratory of Biochemistry, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health

James Collins (Moderator)Chairsperson, NGO Committee on Ageing
