Dr. Elizabeth Yuko Appointed to Global Bioethics Initiative International Advisory Board
On December 5, 2014 Fordham University Center for Ethics Education bioethicist Dr. Elizabeth Yuko has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Global Bioethics Initiative (GBI), an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to improving quality of life in vulnerable populations globally, through research, education and policy change recommendations. Yuko, the program administrator for the Fordham University HIV and Drug Abuse Prevention Research Ethics Training Institute, and the senior editor of Ethics & Society, joins bioethicists Dr. Peter Singer of Princeton University and Dr. Art Caplan of New York University, along with actress and Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Mia Farrow, among others, on the advisory board. “I’m honored and delighted to be a part of GBI,” Yuko said. “The organization’s mission of raising awareness of and finding practical solutions to bioethical challenges is very much in line with ours at the Center for Ethics Education, and I am grateful for this amazing opportunity.” GBI focuses on health disparities across international lines, and was founded in 2011 by Executive Director Dr. Ana Lita and President Dr. Charles H. Debrovner.
